Dear Families,

As always, it has been another busy and exciting term filled with learning, trips, performances and memorable experiences for our children.

Firstly, I would like to thank all of the children for the respect and kindness they showed towards our Year 6 pupils during SATs week. The calm and supportive atmosphere around the school was greatly appreciated. I would also like to congratulate our Year 6 children for the mature and positive way they approached their tests. They should all feel incredibly proud of themselves, and we look forward to celebrating their achievements later in the year.

We also enjoyed a fantastic evening last night at the Derngate Theatre in Northampton, where some of our Year 4 children performed alongside pupils from across the INMAT schools. This celebration of singing, which INMAT has proudly run for the past three years, was a wonderful occasion. The children sang beautifully and represented the school superbly with their enthusiasm, confidence and excellent behaviour. I am sure all of the parents and families who attended would agree that it was a truly joyous event.

Meanwhile, some of our Year 6 children are currently enjoying their residential trip to Govilon in Wales. This nature-inspired, adventurous experience provides children with memories that will last a lifetime, from waterfall walking to watching the sunset over the Welsh mountains. Staff have reported that the children are embracing every opportunity with enthusiasm — and thoroughly enjoying the food too! We look forward to welcoming them back on Friday and hearing all about their adventures.

Back at school, the Year 6 children who remained here have been fully immersed in their “Pleasure Park” topic. They have studied the park in depth before designing and presenting their own proposals for improvements. There have been some incredibly creative and thoughtful ideas. This afternoon, they also enjoyed a well-deserved trip to the bowling alley, complete with plenty of friendly rivalry and fun.

The final term of the year is always a bittersweet one as children begin preparing to move to their next year group and, for our oldest pupils, the next stage of their education. Over the coming weeks, we will be supporting all children carefully with these transitions to ensure they feel confident and excited about what lies ahead.

In the meantime, I would like to wish you and your families a restful and enjoyable half term, with the promise of some warmer and sunnier weather on the way.

Kind regards,

Mrs Walker

What a busy and exciting term it has been! The children have shown fantastic enthusiasm and determination across all areas of their learning.

In PE, they have thoroughly enjoyed learning the game of rounders, developing their teamwork and communication skills as they worked together during fielding activities. They have also worked hard to improve their batting techniques and have shown great encouragement and support towards one another throughout each lesson.

In Science, the children have become budding geologists as they explored the fascinating topic of rocks. They have learnt about the three different types of rocks and discovered how each is formed. The children also investigated which rocks are permeable and developed their understanding of how fossils are created over millions of years. It has been wonderful to see their curiosity and excitement during practical investigations and discussions this term.

Big Sing 2026!

For months, our Year 4 students have dedicated themselves to rehearsing a wide range of songs for the Big Sing, which included their favourites such “The Minibeast Rave” and “Born to Be Wild.” They have been practising these in music lessons, singing assemblies as well as in class.

On Wednesday 21st May , it was time to show all of their hard work at the Royal and Derngate in Northampton. This wonderful occasion brings together schools from INMAT, showcasing the incredible talent and hard work of our young performers.

Throughout the day, the children were amazingly behaved. They were polite, calm and listened to all of the other performers respectfully. In the evening, it was time to perform. The children sang passionately and remembered all the actions for the different songs!

Well done Year 4!

Year 5 have had a fantastic and busy term full of exciting learning across the curriculum. In Art, we had lots of fun creating structures and using powdered paint to add colour and detail to our designs. In Maths, we have been learning all about angles and practising how to use a protractor carefully to help us get organised and prepared for our test next term. In Science, we explored the world of plants and learnt about the important work of Jane Goodall and David Attenborough. In Geography, we have been discovering more about the oceans, including the amazing Great Barrier Reef, and discussing how we can all help to protect marine life and keep our oceans healthy.

Year 6 have worked incredibly hard in preparing for their SATs this term and should be very proud of all they have achieved. The children thoroughly enjoyed the special SATs breakfast each morning, which helped create a calm and positive start to the day, and they approached every test with confidence and determination, doing brilliantly throughout the week.

To end the term some pupils have been enjoying an exciting residential trip to Govilon, taking part in mountain walks and adventurous water activities while building teamwork and resilience. Back in school, the remaining children have been busy learning about the history of the pleasure park, exploring how it has changed over time and using their creativity to plan new apparatus and improved areas for the future.
