As we reach the end of another academic year, our thoughts naturally turn to our Year 6 pupils as they prepare to move on to the next stage of their education. We are incredibly proud of all they have achieved during their time with us and wish them every success and happiness for the future.

Our Year 6 performance was, as always, a real highlight. The pupils delighted audiences with their rousing songs, impressive acting and wonderful comic timing. After performing for the school in the morning and for parents and carers in the afternoon, it was clear that everyone thoroughly enjoyed the show. Thank you to all the staff, pupils and families who helped make it such a memorable occasion.

It has certainly been a very busy and unusually hot summer term. One of the standout events was Sports Day. I am incredibly proud of the Year 5 and Year 6 pupils who helped to support the event. They demonstrated our school values of Pride, Achievement, Responsibility and Kindness throughout the day and were excellent role models for our younger children.

As we reflect on another successful year, I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to all our staff. Their dedication, hard work and commitment to providing the very best opportunities for our children never goes unnoticed. They give so much of their time and energy to ensure that every child can thrive, and I am extremely grateful for all they do for our school community.

Although the summer break is fast approaching, there will be plenty happening behind the scenes. We are looking forward to relocating the library from the hall to its new home, alongside a range of other improvement works across the school, all designed to enhance our learning environment for the year ahead.

Finally, I would like to wish all those leaving us the very best of luck in their new schools and future adventures. To those joining our school community, a very warm welcome. We look forward to seeing everyone at the start of another exciting academic year in September.

Have a wonderful summer break, enjoy time with family and friends, and stay safe. We look forward to welcoming you back for another exciting academic year in September.

Mrs Walker

Year 3 have had an exciting term learning all about the Romans. To bring their learning to life, the children took part in a fantastic Roman Day, where they experienced Roman food, practised writing in Latin, learnt battle formations, and followed Roman army commands. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to immerse themselves in history and deepen their understanding of life in Roman Britain.

Year 3 also thoroughly enjoyed taking part in Sports Day after spending several weeks developing their skills during PE lessons. The children demonstrated fantastic sportsmanship, resilience, and determination throughout the event. We were incredibly proud of the way they encouraged one another, gave their best effort, and celebrated each other's achievements.

Year 4 enjoyed a memorable Egyptian Day, beginning with VR headsets and a guided tour of Ancient Egypt that brought pyramids, tombs and hieroglyphics to life. The time-travelling robots explained what was happening, helping the children step into the world of the past and making their learning vivid and exciting.

The class also took part in practical activities that made history hands-on and meaningful. They mummified apples, which were opened at the end of term so the children were able to observe what happens over time. They also made papyrus paper, which will be used in a future history lesson. This was a fun and messy activity, and the children thoroughly enjoyed it.

In the afternoon, the class enjoyed a feast of Ancient Egyptian-style food in the hall. The bread was lovely, while the olives proved to be a mixed success!

We continued the Egyptian unit after half term. In one lesson, the hall was transformed into the River Nile and the class acted out how the Egyptians used it. They also learnt about Egyptian gods and goddesses, as well as what life was like for an Ancient Egyptian.

It has been a fascinating and enjoyable unit and the children have learnt a great deal.

What an action-packed and unforgettable few weeks it has been in Year 5! We've certainly had an incredible term, beginning with our fascinating visit to the Sikh temple. The children showed outstanding respect and curiosity as they learnt about Sikh beliefs, traditions and the importance of community. It was a truly enriching experience that brought our learning to life.

Back in school, we travelled even further back in time for our exciting Greek Day. A special visitor helped us step into the sandals of the Ancient Greeks, where we competed in our very own mini Olympics and enjoyed a selection of traditional board games. There were plenty of golden moments and thankfully no one needed a Trojan horse to win!

Our competitive spirit continued with a morning at the park for our inter-class rounders tournament. Every child demonstrated fantastic teamwork, determination and sportsmanship, making it a brilliant event for everyone involved. The celebrations didn't stop there as we also embraced the excitement of the World Cup in class, cheering on our chosen teams and enjoying the tournament together.

After ten weeks of dedication and practice, Year 5 also wowed their audience with a fantastic ukulele performance. The children certainly struck the right chord and performed with confidence, showing just how much they have improved.

Finally, Sports Day was the perfect way to round off our busy schedule. Whether running, jumping, throwing or cheering on friends, every child gave their very best and embodied our school values throughout. With a special thank you to the Year 5/6 children to ran the stations for a seamless day!

We are incredibly proud of everything Year 5 has achieved this year and wish everyone a happy, safe and well-deserved summer break!

Message from Miss Rose

Class 10 - what a year! We have laughed, we have danced, we have sung our hearts out! We've made so many memories and I hope you will remember them for a long time to come - I know I will.

The way you have changed since Year 5 is admirable and I am so proud of where you all are now compared to where you may have been before. Your SATs results show just how hard you have worked so, as you leave us, hold your head high and be proud of yourselves. Year 6 can be scary, but you have given it your all and I couldn't ask for any more than that!

I am super proud of each and every one of you - don't forget little old Miss Rose! I expect a few visits from you in September...

This doesn't have to be goodbye, but a see you soon! Good luck Class 10 - I will miss you.

Message from Mrs Thompson and Mrs Goodhall

Class 11, what a year it has been! You have certainly kept us on our toes with your energy, determination and occasional mischief. Whether it's Darcy falling off a chair, Rubix cube championships, Sizzle's updates or Nathan's daily raps, we have laughed every day.  Although Class 11 can be tricky at times, you are also one of the funniest, most entertaining and memorable classes we have had the pleasure of teaching. Your personalities, humour and unique talents have made every day interesting. As you move on to secondary school, remember to believe in yourselves, work hard and embrace every opportunity that comes your way. We are incredibly proud of how much you have grown and achieved, and we know you will go on to do amazing things. Good luck, Class 11!  Love Mrs Thompson and Miss Goodall.

Message from Mrs O'Mahoney

Class 12,

What can I say? I started with you in Year 5, never knowing that I would have the privilege of taking you through Year 6 as well and watching you grow into such an amazing group of young people.

Over the last year, there have been many ups and downs, challenges and successes, but through it all you have shown resilience, determination, kindness, and a willingness to keep going. You have worked incredibly hard and have continually proved just how capable you are. Each and every one of you has achieved something to be proud of, whether academically, personally, or through the way you have supported others.

There have been so many moments that I will remember. So many of you have brought a smile to my face, made me laugh out loud, surprised me with your ideas, challenged my thinking, and reminded me why teaching is such a rewarding job. You are a class full of unique personalities, and it is those differences that have made Class 12 such a special group to teach.

Never forget how special you are. The friendships you have built, the memories you have made, and the lessons you have learnt will stay with you for years to come. Continue to be kind, continue to work hard, and continue to support one another.

I am incredibly proud of every single one of you. Thank you for the memories, the laughter, the challenges, and the privilege of being your teacher. Watching you grow over the last two years has been an honour, and although it is time for you to move on, a little piece of Class 12 will always stay with me.

Good luck in secondary school. Dream big, work hard, be kind, and go and show the world just how amazing you are.

Mrs O'Mahoney

This term has been packed with exciting sporting activities and fantastic opportunities for our pupils! With the excitement of the World Cup, the whole school has enjoyed getting into the football spirit. After most England matches, classes celebrated by taking part in penalty shoot-out competitions, which created lots of excitement and friendly competition. We also held an attendance raffle, giving pupils another reason to be in school every day and our corridors have looked fantastic thanks to the England flags and decorations displayed throughout the school. Alongside the World Cup celebrations, several year groups have enjoyed a variety of sports trips, giving children the chance to experience new activities and represent the school with enthusiasm and excellent sportsmanship. Our annual Sports Day was another huge success, with pupils showing determination, teamwork and resilience throughout the events. A special thank you goes to our wonderful Year 5 and 6 Sports Leaders, who helped organise activities, supported younger children and ensured the day ran smoothly. To round off the term, most year groups have enjoyed a fun game of rounders at the field, making the most of the lovely weather and providing a well-deserved treat. It has been a fantastic term of sport, teamwork and memorable experiences for everyone.

Message from Mrs Byrne - Spanish Teacher

We celebrated ‘Culture Day’ on Wednesday 8th July where our classrooms burst with colour as pupils proudly wore traditional clothing, taught friends how to say greetings in different languages, and showcased dances, songs and stories. It was a day filled with curiosity and kindness, where everyone learnt that our differences make our community stronger, and every culture adds something wonderful to our school. We created flags in each classroom to represent our diversity. All the children enjoyed tasting some Spanish and Mexican cuisine. There were lots of thumbs up for the patatas bravas, Spanish tortilla and nachos but many were not so keen on the green olives! In class 10, other dishes on the menu included; Nalesniki - Polish pancakes with cream cheese, from Oskar, plantain chips from Nigeria, from Josh and yam and eggs also from Nigeria, from Timi.

By the end of the day, children left with new knowledge, and a deeper appreciation for the rich tapestry of cultures that shape our school and the wider community.  Thank you so much for coming up with the idea Shashini – Class 11, Year 6.
