With the weather improving, it’s been a joyful time at school, made even more special by the pleasure of taking our Year 4 pupils and the Choir to The Big Sing at The Derngate in Northampton. This inspiring event, hosted by the Inmat Trust, brought together children from all 11 trust schools in a spectacular celebration of music and unity. Our pupils sang beautifully and represented our school with pride—well done to everyone involved!

Next term is always a busy one as we begin preparations to support our children in their transitions—whether moving up to a new year group or getting ready for secondary school. Alongside these changes, we are also bidding a fond farewell to Mrs Peacock, our wonderful Deputy Head, who will be taking up a Headship at Geddington Primary School. After 10 dedicated years at our school, during which she progressed from an outstanding newly qualified class teacher to a valued leader, she is now ready for this exciting next step. We thank her for her immense contribution and wish her every success in her new role.

We also say goodbye to Mr Hackett at the end of this term, as he embarks on an exciting new adventure—teaching in Dubai! Mr Hackett has been an amazing teacher and an invaluable member of our team. As Year 6 Lead, Pupil Premium Lead, and PE Lead, his dedication has made a lasting impact. He has inspired countless children, championed pupil achievement, and made it possible for so many to take part in sports events in the area. We thank Mr Hackett for everything and wish him all the very best in this exciting next chapter.

We will also be saying goodbye to Mr Oliver, who is taking up a leadership post closer to home. Although he’s only been back with us for a year, he has worked tirelessly to enhance our personal, social, and emotional curriculum, leaving a lasting legacy of care and support for our pupils. His new school is very lucky to be gaining such a dedicated and thoughtful leader. We wish Mr Oliver all the very best as he steps into this exciting new role.

As we say goodbye to some much-loved members of staff, we’re also excited to be welcoming new teachers to our school in September. Joining us will be Mrs Mahoney, Mr Burnham, and Mr Fortune, who each bring their own strengths and enthusiasm to our team. We are also in the process of recruiting a new Assistant Headteacher, and we look forward to sharing more details with you once the appointment has been made. We are confident these new additions will help continue our strong tradition of excellence and care.

Wishing you a wonderful half-term break, and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday 2nd June.

This term, Year 3 have been getting creative with their Growing Artists topic in Art. The children have been developing their observational skills by exploring positive and negative space to help them decide where to begin their drawings. They've also been learning how light interacts with objects, using shading and blending techniques to add depth and detail.

As part of their exploration, they spent time outside studying natural textures and created their own detailed drawings inspired by what they saw in the garden. It’s been a fantastic term of artistic growth and discovery!

We had a brilliant time at Cadbury world. We went in a jungle and Cadbury told us a story and we were in Old London. We watched a movie. The chairs were shaking and a roller was rolling on the roof. We then had a talk where we  learnt about what is ripe cacao beans and learnt about the different products that there are. We learnt all about the different people that work in the factory and what they wear to protect themselves.

We went on a 3D ride and we were given glasses and it was so cool it looked like they were coming out of the screen. It was so cool.

There was people making sculptures. We could watch them making it. We got to look at sculptures including the giant cream egg, a chocolate shoe, football and more. We got to eat chocolate and choose our toppings.

We wrote our names in chocolate and scraped it off and got to draw pictures!

We went onto a ride when we shot at different things that we needed to collect in order to make chocolate.

It was an awesome day!!

Year 5 have had a fantastic start to the summer term. In May, we have been learning all about Oceans, writing persuasive holiday brochures and exploring interactive installation sculpture in art.

We have found learning about our oceans and their importance in our lives fascinating. Did you know that some ingredients used in life-saving medicine comes from coral reefs? We didn't! This is important as we discovered that coral reefs are being seriously impacted by global warming and human misuse (like removal or overfishing). In order to protect the oceans and the important coral reef eco-system, we looked at ways to reduce harm, for example: reusing plastic, reducing fishing, finding ways to reduce our carbon footprint (like car sharing) and educating others about the importance of the ocean.

Year 6 have had the busiest of terms this term. The much-anticipated SATs have come and gone quicker than we thought and the children were superstars! We enjoyed breakfast club together every morning and got ourselves fuelled for the day ahead.

As soon as SATs finished, we headed to the park to unwind and relax from the busy week, playing football and enjoying the playground equipment (with a delicious ice cream).

We all split into two groups to end this term - half of us headed to Wales for the residential trip whilst the rest stayed back at school to enjoy a week-long project, creating a 3-D board game complete with player pieces, supporting props and full instructions. As we are heading to the end of the year, all students who ordered a leavers hoodie were given these which we modelled out in the beautiful sunshine!

Road casualty data shows  that the number of child pedestrian casualties doubles between the ages of 9 and 11, with incidents more likely to happen during drop-off and pick-up times.

- ‘EYES UP’ prompts children to put their phone away and look out for their friends and not distract them. Children should stay focused near traffic, look right, left and right again before crossing the road and continue looking and listening while they cross.

  – ‘SLOW DOWN’ advises children to take care and don’t run across the road when traffic is coming even if you think there is time. It can be difficult to judge the speed of traffic. If traffic is coming let it pass.

 - ‘CROSS SAFELY’ reminds children to always find a safe place to cross, use a pedestrian crossing if there is one and choose a place where you can see clearly in all directions. Crossing between parked vehicles is hazardous and should be avoided where possible. But when they need to, use the outside edge of the vehicles (as if they were the kerb), stop there and check for traffic looking right, left and right again before entering the road. Check the vehicles are not about to move off, look for drivers in the cars, lights and listen for engines running. When getting off the bus, wait for the bus to leave so you have a clear view and can be seen by other road users.
