Dear Families,

As we reach the end of another academic year, we want to take a moment to celebrate the hard work, growth, and achievements of all our students. It has been a busy and productive term, filled with learning, creativity, and community spirit. From classroom projects and sports days to performances and educational trips, every child has contributed to making this year a memorable one.

We would like to inform families that Mrs Chambers, Class 9 teacher and our Design and Technology Lead, has made the decision to leave the school following a period of absence. Mrs Chambers has been a valued member of our teaching team, inspiring her students with creativity and care. We thank her for her dedication and wish her every success and happiness in the next chapter of her journey.

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Miss Wellings, our Year 6 Learning Partner, who will be leaving us at the end of this term to pursue a new career direction. Miss Wellings has played a vital role in running our Year 6 interventions and has been instrumental in supporting the progress and confidence of so many children this year.  Her dedication, positivity, and calm presence will be greatly missed by staff and pupils alike. We wish her every success and happiness as she embarks on this exciting new venture.

What a fantastic Year 6 performance we had yesterday! It was a joy to see so many confident, talented pupils take to the stage with energy and enthusiasm. Their families clearly enjoyed every moment, and it was a fitting celebration of all they’ve achieved during their time at primary school.

We are incredibly proud to share that our Year 6 SATs outcomes are the best the school has ever achieved collectively. A significant number of children met the expected standard across subjects, reflecting their hard work, resilience, and commitment throughout the year.

We’re especially delighted that our outcomes are in line with national averages, and our combined results—children achieving the expected standard in reading, writing, and mathematics—have exceeded the national level. This is a remarkable achievement, ensuring our children are secondary ready and a testament to the efforts of our pupils, staff, and families working together.

Congratulations to our fantastic Year 6 cohort—you should all be very proud!

As they prepare to move on to their respective secondary schools, we know they are ready for the challenges and opportunities ahead. They will be sadly missed, but we are so proud of the young people they have become. We wish each and every one of them the very best for the exciting journey that lies ahead.

We are incredibly proud of the progress made by each student throughout the school and grateful for the continued support from families and carers. Thank you for being such an important part of our school community.

We wish all our students and families a safe, restful, and enjoyable summer break, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the new school year!

Mrs Walker

Year 3 have had a very busy term! As part of our history topic on the Romans, we visited Chester House where we made oil lamps, scripted curses, and explored a museum telling us all about the Romans and how they used to live.

The children said they really enjoyed the experience! In science, we've been learning about different types of rocks and testing their permeability.

In reading, we've been fascinated by the story of Pompeii—how the eruption destroyed the city, and how it remains a popular place to visit today.

This term in Art, Year 4 have explored a range of creative techniques and materials to deepen their understanding of 3D art.
We experimented with different approaches to building and shaping forms, using both traditional and unexpected materials. This included manipulating wire and carving soap to create our own sculptures. In classes, we reflected on how to make thoughtful decisions about constructing and presenting our work. Inspired by a variety of artists, we also explored how meaning and design can be expressed through sculpture. Well done, Year 4, for your explorative, creative, and resilient approach to this unit!

It’s been an exciting and creative term in Year 5! In reading lessons, we've been diving into The Nowhere Emporium—a magical tale that has truly captured our imaginations. The children have been exploring its vivid settings and mysterious characters, sparking some fantastic discussions and writing.

In writing, we’ve been exploring the poem The Malfeasance, drawing inspiration from its vivid language and rhythmic style to craft our own descriptive poetry. The children then unleashed their imaginations by inventing their own unique 'beasts' and composing original poems that mirrored the structure and tone of the original poem.

During DT lessons, the children have been stitching together their ideas—literally! Our sewing project allowed the children to design and create their very own stuffed toy. Parents even helped out one afternoon which was a huge success!

As we look back on the year, we couldn’t be prouder of how much they have all grown—they’ve shown resilience, creativity, and a real love for learning every step of the way.

Year 6 have had a very busy final term in their KPJA journey which has been filled with a lot of exciting activities. We have been rehearsing for our end of year production, getting to grips with the stage, curtains and music!

We were lucky enough to be joined by former world champion Kyren Wilson for a snooker master class in the hall where he showed us all how to pot a ball.

We have all visited our new secondary schools and prepared for the transition in our PSHE lessons, ready for September. We have also welcomed in various visitors to help us learn about staying safe in the community.

In true Year 6, chaotic fashion, we finished the year with a water fight on the playground - we all got completely soaked which was not helped when the teachers got us from out the window! What an end to the term and our KPJA journey.

A message from Mr Oliver:

I started my journey at Kettering Park Junior Academy back in July 2018 and what a journey it’s been! After five wonderful years, I briefly stepped away to try out a primary setting - but it didn’t take long for me to realise just how special KPJA truly is. I had to come back and I’m so glad I did. Across six incredible years, I’ve experienced everything from my first ever year in teaching to the surreal period of school closures during Covid and the joy of returning to full classrooms filled with brilliant children, exciting trips and an amazing team of staff.

Being a former pupil here myself, it was a dream come true to return as a teacher and hopefully inspire the children the same way my teachers did back in 2006. Some of my fondest memories include my first residential to Condover and teaching some unforgettable lessons along the way.

I’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to a few people who have made my time here as special as the school itself. To Mrs Walker - for giving me the opportunity of a lifetime and being like a second mum; Mrs Peacock and Miss Goodall - for always being there with unwavering support; Mrs Paddick - for guiding me through my early years as an LP and Mr Hackett and Miss Rose - for making this past year one to remember. And of course to the amazing children - you’ve made every day wacky, wonderful and worth it.

Though it’s time for me to take on a new challenge as a Phase Lead for Year 3 and 4 at a new school (equal parts exciting and scary!) I’ll never forget my time at KPJA. This school, its staff and its pupils have given me memories that I’ll treasure forever. Thank you all for being a part of my journey.

A message from Mr Hackett:

KPJA really has felt like home to me: it was the first place that offered me work experience when I moved into education, the first school that offered me employment as a learning partner and the school in which I fully qualified. Although I have spent time in a number of other schools, nowhere quite compares to Kettering Park. It has taken the utterly crazy opportunity of moving over to Dubai as a senior leader to pull me away and, even then, has been an emotional decision.

I have been lucky enough to work in a number of roles in the school and feel proud to have helped to make this school a wonderful place to attend. As the PE lead, I have overseen countless tournaments, organised three different sports days, won two football league trophies and introduced a number of new initiatives, namely inclusive sports for everyone and our first ever all-girls football team. The highlight for me was organising for global sports star Kyren Wilson, snooker world champion, to attend our school and inspire our young people to follow their dreams, proving nothing is out of reach.

My journey has been filled with so many amazing colleagues, incredible children and wonderful parents. This community is what makes KPJA so special and I will always love to be a part of it, even from a distance.

A message from Mrs Peacock

After ten wonderful years, it is hard to believe I am now writing my goodbyes. I started at Park Juniors as a newly qualified teacher, excited to begin my career in education and have valued the opportunity as part of the senior leadership team to help move the school forward. Over the years, I have been fortunate to work with so many incredible children, families and colleagues.

As a year 6 teacher, I have seen many children through their final year at primary school, which is such a special time. I hope they have gone into their secondary years with fantastic memories of engaging learning experiences and enrichment opportunities woven through the other challenges year 6 brings.

My greatest privilege has been to lead English, which is a passion of mine. In doing so, I hope that I have exposed children in some way to the power of the English language and opened up a world of reading opportunities. Planning many World Book Days (or 'World Book Weeks' as we like to have at Park!) has been a joy and I have loved watching the children engage with character costumes, vocabulary parades, book tastings, library scavenger hunts, reading breakfasts, collective school story writing, book 'shelfies' and 'caught reading' photos. A personal favourite memory of mine will always be our 'masked reader' activity during the covid lockdown, where we chose not to let this deter us from celebrating World Book Day with our classes via zoom!

I have developed and learnt so much in my time here it is difficult to capture in words how I have grown as an educator, leader and as a person. This school is such a special community that has a way of capturing your heart and it will always hold a very special place in mine.

We offer huge congratulations to Mrs Brudenall who will start her teacher training in September.

Luckily for us, she will be completing her training here at KPJA!

Congratulations and well done Mrs B for chasing your dreams. We know you are going to make a wonderful teacher.
